"Turk" Mausers
Briefely, Turk Mausers or a variant of the venerable Mauser 98 that was at one time the standard service arm of Turkey. What makes it differnet from the standard Mauser 98 is that the receiver is threaded for barrels with 0.98" 12TPI shanks. This is the typical barrel threading used for the earlier (Mauser 93,94,96) or "Small Ring" Mauser actions. It also has a shallow barrel shroud on the front of the action.
Sooo whats the big deal? These actions are now readily available at prices (in adjusted dollars) that we haven't seen for surplus actions since the '60s. If you google "Turk Mauser" you will get litereally thousands of hits. However, our favorite site is here.
